We’re sure you don’t want to have to pack bed linen, bath or pool towels, so they are all provided for you free of charge. Beds are made up before your arrival and if you’re staying with us for more than a week we’ll deliver a complete change of fresh linen and towels to your gite each Saturday morning.
It’s always fun to explore the local markets and discover new tastes, but it’s not always possible as soon as you arrive. So your gite is stocked with the essentials – useful if you’ve had a long journey or any delays on the way and just need something to eat on your first evening. All kitchens contain:
- A welcome pack of bread, cheese and milk
- tea, coffee and sugar
- vegetable oil, salt, pepper, herbs and spices
- pasta and sauce
- ice cubes prepared in the freezer
- A bottle of wine
- And if our hens are behaving themselves and earning their keep, some freshly laid free range eggs
You’ll also find a tray of port or Pineau de Charentes in the living room.
We have a well-stocked fresh herb garden in front of our farmhouse, and an enormous bay tree in the grounds. Please feel free to help yourself and don’t forget to take a branch of bay leaves home with you – they dry perfectly and will be a wonderful reminder of your stay at Les Grands Coudrais whenever you cook!
Throughout the summer months you’ll often find a basket of home grown vegetables outside your gite – we always need help to eat what we grow! And as Jane loves making jams and chutneys, there’ll usually be a jar of something home-made for you as well.
Wifi is available at Les Grands Coudrais through a TP-Link system which can be placed in your gite. This is free of charge, but we do ask for a €40 refundable deposit for the equipment. We also have a wifi link which covers the pool and garden area.
All the gites are equipped with a hairdryer as well as an ironing board and iron. They’re also stocked with initial supplies of kitchen and toilet rolls, washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets, handwash, bathroom toiletries, cleaning materials, barbecue coals and firelighters.
All the kitchens in the gites are fully equipped with matching sets of crockery, cutlery and glassware as well as kitchen utensils, pots, pans and serving dishes. We’ve tried to think of everything you would want to self cater in style, but please just ask if you need something special such as a fish kettle, unusual baking tins or a dozen ramekins – Jane’s probably got it in her kitchen! Similarly, if you think your kitchen’s missing something really obvious, let us know and we’ll try to obtain it for you.
